Boutique THEO is the creation of two childhood friends, Jennifer Delesie {Delesie Photography} and  Charlotte Hale {Plum Pretty Sugar}  and along with Lisa Vorce {Event Design & Production} as the Creative Director.  These talented ladies have established themselves prominently in the wedding industry and now combined their expertise to help others plan special events through “shop the look”  in their online shop. It carries a wide range collection of decor and accessories for special events, individuals, the home and for gift giving {my personal favorites are the creamware cake stands}.  They also have a blog site featuring ideas, how-to projects and beautiful inspirational photos {like the image below} to help you get started.   I encourage you to go and take a peak.

Moss

Moss1

.

This was one of those unexpected days that I didn’t plan on being outside, but welcomed it.  The DAYS (months) have been cloudy, damp and rainy for TOO long.  The sun came out from behind the blanket of gray clouds, it was a good opportunity to check out the garden and around the yard.  My mind started to think of all the possibilities as to what I should do out in the sunshine.  As you can see, I planted moss in these pretty little pots.   Moss have taken over the yard, literally in the lawn, trees, rocks and on the house.

Moss tree-2

.

This is what one of the apple trees looked like covered in moss.  I will scrape some off and use it in the pots.

.

.

A few gardening supplies, but I will not be needing all of them.

Moss & Pots

.

Almost done and a few more pots to go.

Moss & pots

.

.

They turned out great.  It took me about an hour to complete the project.

.

.

My son Caleb and I decided to gather a few things to decorate around these pots.  I snipped off branches from the apple tree with tiny buds just starting to immerge.  Then added fresh eggs from the chicken coop and wooden white birds.

.

.

They are now ready to be taken inside the house set as the center piece of the table.  To keep them fresh and green, make sure to water them well and not let the soil get dry.   Squirt / mist the top of the moss with water once a day (maybe more) will also help.

.

.

.

Supplies for this project are available at most gardening stores such as Home Depot & Lowe’s.  The two types of moss, Irish & Scotch are the most common ones available.  Sometimes the pot the moss came in could easily be slipped into a decorative pot without having to transplant it or make a mess.

Mountain Home Retreat

If Bill and I were to combine the different elements in the homes we love, it might look like the featured home from the January 2012, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles magazine.  Seeing it again a year later, we still like it just as much and wanted to share these photos with you.  The home is located in the North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains.  The combination of the New England colonial, rustic mountain and country farmhouse together with dark gray exterior paint suited this home perfectly.   The interior is open, warm and inviting.  “Our number one goal was for it (kitchen) to be charming and comfortable, but sophisticated.” was the designer Nancy Warren’s description of the kitchen.  I think that same description is evident through out the house.

The Color Trend for 2013

Color trend 2013 Aloe
Sherwin Williams color choice for 2013 is Aloe.  Here’s why they picked it as explained by Jackie Jordan, Sherwin-William’s director of color marketing,                                           “This is no ordinary pastel — Aloe is funky and glamorous, demure and free-spirited. While Aloe’s vibe can verge on retro, when paired with caviar blacks, crisp whites or soft grays, suddenly Aloe has a new soul and attitude. And Aloe is highly adaptable, making it a perfect pick for everyday spaces such as a breezy sunroom or a well-dressed living room.”   (source ~ apartment therapy )

Color trend 2013 pantone- emerald-

Pantone LLC’s Color of the year for 2013 is Emerald. The executive director of Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman said the following, “The entire green family has been so strong, upcoming through the ’90s as we’re paying attention to nature, so the family isn’t new, but what we needed to look at and revisit was the psychological background: Emerald is such a balanced color, and balance is something to pick up on and listen to.  It’s a color of growth, renewal, healing, unity and regeneration — words we’re all so in need of at this point of history.”    (source ~ Bella  &  image ~ Elegance & Simplicity )
