I’m revisiting and remembering Hannah’s 12th birthday as her 18th birthday approaches. In the last blog post, Hannah’s Garden Birthday Party, I included a picture of Hannah wearing her lime green flower ring. I have kept it as a keepsake and recently brought it out to have her wear it again. It is still as sweet and fashionable.

Here is another flower ring with layers of soft yellow petals fastened with a bead at the center.
.

.
Supplies:
• silk/artificial flowers
• ½-inch elastic {approximately 2½ inches long}
• sewing needle and thread
• pins {if needed}
• plastic beads
• scissors
.
step 1: Cut a piece of ½-inch elastic long enough to wrap around a finger with a little extra, about 2½ inches long.
step 2: Make a circle and overlap the two ends together about a half inch, sew simple running stitches to attach the two ends together.
.
step 4: Select a flower for the ring and strip everything off the flower petals.
.
step 5: Pin all the petals together if necessary to keep them in place. Thread your needle and tie a knot at the end of the piece of string. With a needle and thread sew the petals together at the center area with simple stitches {about 8-10 stitches}. Take your time as the layers of flower petals can be thick and difficult to sew through.
step 6: Once the petals are secured, pull the needle up through the center of the flower, slide a bead through the needle and thread and push the needle back down through the petals near the center. Repeat this 4-5 times to secure the bead to the center of the flower.
.
step 7: Place the elastic ring band with the two overlapping edges at the center back side of the flower. Sew simple running stitches back and forth a few times to attach it to the flower.
.
.
step 8: Cut the remaining thread off the ring.
.
A pretty gift to give.

Grace trying on the new flower ring.

I hope you had a great weekend Lynn and a successful day at the Puyallup Farmers Market!
We drove to the coast last weekend and enjoyed some rare warm sunny days at the beach. When I came home I couldn’t believe how quickly my vegetable garden has grown…. I picked some tomatoes, lettuce and zucchini today.
Its beautiful flower ring and you did great job looking awesome. I would also like to do the same. Thanks for giving us such a great blog.
