Super Bowl Sunday!
The NFL Super Bowl 50 will be held this Sunday, February 7th 2016 {3:25 pm PST} in Santa Clara, CA at Levi’s Stadium. What a great season it was for the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers. They have earned their spots here in the Super Bowl. The Carolina Panthers number one offense will be facing the Denver Broncos number one defense. The excitement is building here at my house and I am looking forward to the big game. You could probably tell which team I will be cheering on.
.
The history of my love for the game and the Denver Broncos goes back to my childhood. I grew up in Wyoming then later moved to Colorado and my family would watch the Denver Broncos play every Sunday. I am currently living in Seattle, WA, and I still love to watch the Broncos play.

I’ve gotten to know the players over the years and especially the quarterback, John Elway. He took the team to five Super Bowls and won back to back Super Bowls in 1997 and 1998.

What makes Super Bowl 50 extra special is the reunion and teaming up of the old Broncos players back on the team, but not as players, John Elway {GM & VP operations}, Gary Kubiak {1st year as head coach}, and Rick Dennison {offensive coordinator}. Wade Phillips was their defensive coordinator back then and came back last year to do it again. In 1990 they were together at Super Super Bowl XXIV and lost to the San Francisco 49ers {55-10}. Twenty-six years later they have another chance…to win it.
.
To celebrate Super Bowl 50, I’ve made mini flags that you can print and attach to toothpicks or wooden skewers. Use them to top off burgers, cupcakes and drinks or to pick up snacks. They are simple to make and a great addition to have on game day to bring out a little more festivity and support for the team.
.
Supplies:
toothpicks or wooden skewers {I used 6″ wooden skewers}
glue stick {double sided tape will work too}
scissors
mini paper flags, Broncos {print} & Panthers {print}
.
Directions:
1 Print mini flags on regular weight paper, Broncos {print} & Panthers {print}.
2 Cut out the mini flags.
3 Fold a paper flag in half, apply glue to the back side, place the top end of a wooden skewer down the folded line, bring the two ends of the back side of the paper together, and press firmly. Repeat the process to make more flags.

.
There will be plenty of food to eat on Super Bowl Sunday and these mini sandwiches are a great addition to the selections.
.
The two types of sandwiches were made with turkey on French baguette and roast beef on mini deli rolls layered with mixed greens, tomatoes, onions and cheese. Each one was wrapped in parchment paper and tied with twine for easy picking up to eat.

Have fun watching Super Bowl 50 this Sunday!
