Happy Father’s Day!
Backpacking, hiking and exploring the great outdoors is something Bill loves to do with the kids throughout the summer. For Father’s Day gift this year we will be giving Bill an Osprey backpack {Stratos 36}. It’s a good quality backpack with lots of features that Bill really likes. .
.
Caleb was a good sport being my model that day.
The Stratos 36 is fairly light weight for a medium size backpack and very comfortable to carry. The mesh ventilation system is a nice feature for keeping your back cool and dry. This pack has easy access to the many pockets and compartments.
See the video below for more information.

Searching for a new backpack can be overwhelming and difficult. There are a wide range of styles, features, sizes and prices to choose from depending on what you will be using it for. I hope by sharing the information on this particular backpack will help narrow your choices and get you on the path to finding the right one for you. Here are a few retail stores the Osprey Stratos 36 is available at, REI , Backcountry , and L.L.Bean. And if you are in the New York City area, American Terrain Outdoors is a great place to shop. They have knowledgeable and friendly staff members to help you. .

To go with the Father’s Day gift, extra-large gift tags were attached together to the backpack with a utility pear biner.
• heavy card stock paper {cut 4″ x 8½”}
• Magazine/Catalog pages {pictures of the outdoors…}
• Scissors
• Hole punch
• Glue stick .
.
Step 1
Cut out shapes from magazine/catalog pages and glue them to the card stock paper. For this tag I made simple shapes for mountains, water, and little pebbles/rocks. Step 2
Similar process to step 1, but cut out letter shapes to spell out “DAD”. For the third tag {see below}, cut out fish shapes and glue them to the tag. .
.
Before punching a hole at the top of the tag and putting the biner through, I used a small piece of contrasting paper {4″ x 2″}, folded in half and glued it to the front and back sides to make the tag stronger.
{One gift tag for each child to write a little note on the back to give Bill for Father’s Day.}

Have a fun Father’s Day Weekend everyone!

Another great project, Kay! I know Bill will enjoy packing the miles with your super gift. Love the tags too!
Thanks Linda. Bill used the backpack for the first time biking to work. He really liked it!
Fantastic gift filled with so many great memories… What a wonderful touch to have each of you write a note on the custom made gift tags.

When I was putting this blog post together and looking at their pictures {from 2007/2011}, it made me realized how fast the years have gone by and yes “so many memories” they will have.
On Father’s Day, the kids and Bill ran the local 5k race in the morning. That was great to see.
Happy Fathers’s day Bill……… I want to go hiking!
I hope Vern had a wonderful Father’s Day Ruthie. You could hike over for coffee with me.
