A great dinner for a great cause, it’s a date! We recently attended the annual dinner & auction fundraising event at Madison Grove Farm. It’s a non-profit equestrian farm located in Fall City, Washington. Marla McNary, the founder and her husband Darin have been working to build, expand and make the farm to be a place to rejuvenate and to rehabilitate neglected/abused horses as well as struggling children and families. This is also a place our daughter, Grace has been taking riding lessons, learning to care for the animals on the farm and be a volunteer to help other kids. In just a few years, we have come to know Marla and see how she touches so many lives. The farm gives kids a place to let their guard down, feel normal and have fun.
Here are a few pictures from our dinner at the farm.
The weather was just right, warm and blue sky.
Cakes to be auctioned off for dessert (the highest bid total per table gets to choose their cake first).
Two young volunteers, Annie (L) and Emily(R) introduced the two miniature horses, Bud and Shadow to the guests.

Star, a thoroughbred is the newest addition to the Madison Grove Farm family. She was rescued from neglect and starvation in 2011 (see the before & after pictureshere). Madison Grove Farm partnered with Serenity Equine Rescue to give this beautiful horse a new life.
Thank you Marla & Darin for sharing your farm with us.
Life is constantly busy. In our house it’s a lot of little things like getting the kids to and from school/ activities/ appointments/ parties, clean the house and the yard, fix or patch up something or just trying to squeeze in a little family time. The busier we are, the more likely we are to forget to stop and be thankful for the small wonderful things around us all the time. There are reasons to rejoice everyday. So ‘thank you Lord’ for the dishwasher that is not working properly; I am sure there is something good here…somewhere, its just a little wet right now.
How about you, what are you continually praying or thanking God for?
~
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)

The main entrance decoration is simple with a few orange pumpkins and gray gourds. Using a large pumpkin as a flower container ties everything together. (image 1)

Setting the tables using pumpkins, gourds, twigs, and wood tree slices will bring out the simple and rustic feel to the tables. (images23 )

Grouping the same items together will give a big impact. Using the French tian bowl for the apples is unexpected and compliments the display nicely. If you’re not sure what to use as the center piece for the table, try a big bowl or platter full of white mini pumpkins. (images 45)
Italian gunmaker, Beretta, is the oldest continuously operating company in the world. They have been in existance since 1526, almost 500 years and family owned. This is unheard of in todays companies. They specialize in firearms, particularly shotguns and rifles. The quality and workmanship is superb. They offer other accessories such as knives and hunting clothes for their clientele.

While in New York City a few months ago, I had the opportunity to visit the Beretta store, one of six in the world. {Beretta 718 Madison Ave New York, NY}
.
I slowly made my way through the store and to the third floor. There the showcase of the many shotguns were on display.
The salesperson took the time and guided me through the different shotguns and how each was unique. At the end, he brought out two very expensive shotguns (worth as much as a house). As he pointed out their unique qualities, it was clear as to why they were the best of the best. The Beretta that I own can’t be compare to those, but remembering the excitement of my first Beretta is like holding the best of the best. It’s a great shotgun in its function, and beautiful in its elegant lines and craftsmanship. It was an exciting excursion and educational.
In 2010, President George W. Bush was presented with a custom Beretta SO10EELL. The finest walnut is used, inlaid with 24 carat gold, the Presidential Seal (43), and his dog, all engraved on the gun. Over 500 hours of engraving went into this gun.
