Pretty and Simple Packaging Idea for Valentine’s Day

Valentine packaging

.  .  .

Today I am sharing a pretty and simple packaging idea to make for Valentine’s Day. With a few basic supplies, some sweet treats of your choice {macarons}, and a little bit of time to assemble, these gifts will be ready to give. For something as simple as these mini packages, a little care and attention to detail was important to make them special.  To dress up the basic glassine bags, pink ribbon was used to give the bags a nice pop of color. The handmade heart tags were added for a personal touch. A wonderful way to share with others the yummy treats enclosed inside the gift package.

I hope these ideas will be fun to put together for Valentine’s Day or for other occasions.

As an alternative to chocolate or candy for Valentine’s Day, each one of the treat bags will be filled with a French macaron.

Supplies:

1  glassine bags {3¾ X 6¼ inches}
2  treats to fill the bags {macarons}
3  scissors
4  decorative paper for cutting
5  glue stick
6  decorative tape
7  twine
8  ribbon
9  hole punch {⅛” hole size}

To get started, fill each glassine bag with a macaron and tie it with a ribbon.  Repeat the process until all are the treats are packaged up.

To make heart tags:
Choose a decorative paper and cut it into smaller rectangular pieces,  approximately  3½-4 inches by  2-2½ inches.  Fold one of the small pieces of paper in half and cut out with scissor a heart shape to make two paper hearts {see above pic}. If you are not comfortable cutting freeform hearts with a pair of scissors, you can lightly trace out a heart shape on the paper first then cut them out. Glue the back sides of the two hearts together to give strength and weight to the tag. Repeat the steps with the other pieces of paper.

After cutting and gluing the two hearts together, punch a hole near the top center of the heart shape paper.

To attach twine to the hart shaped paper:
Cut a piece of twine about 10-12 inches long, fold it in half and insert the folded end through the punched hole, pull about an inch or two out, and loosen it apart to make an opening. Take the two loose ends of twine and pull them through the opening to tighten and attach it to the paper.

Easter Basket, Treats, and Printable Tags

Easter basket

.  .  .

Spring is officially here and in a few weeks we will be celebrating Easter.

Finding the Easter basket on Easter morning is a tradition my kids look forward to-even now as teenagers.  In each of their baskets {similar to the one in the picture above} there will be sweets, chocolates and a little something special.  To personalize their baskets this year, I’ve created tags with this adorable French rabbit from The Graphic Fairy.

Thankful Thoughts & God

November ~ I am Thankful

It’s wonderful to see on Pinterest, Facebook, Tumblr, and other websites of what people are thankful for.  Somedays are harder than others, but like one quote I’ve seen again and again, “There is Always something to be Thankful for.” So true.  This is my November inspiration board with pictures, quotes and found objects that I’ve gathered  together to remind me of the wonderful things in my life.

November ~ I am Thankful

Have fun using these printables of thankful thoughts, quotes and Bible verses.  Post them on a bulletin board/ refrigerator, hang it on the wall  or attach the little tags onto packages.

Halloween Display, Printables and More…

Halloween display / Spiders & Insect / Treats

Halloween TREATS!  I like to put together simple, fun and not too scary Halloween display for the kids.  See the previous year {here}.  This theme is all about creepy crawly critters like spiders, frogs, snakes, and bugs.  For the next few posts from now till Halloween, I will put together in detail “how to’s” for … treats, paper pumpkins and packaging shown above.

.

Halloween display, paper pumpkins

Paper pumpkin treat packages are too cute and easy to make.  Flameless candles is the ideal way to add a soft glow and they won’t burn the delicate cobwebs.  I also used bare branches in a tall vase to give height and texture to the display.

Free Printables / Spiders & insects

Have fun using this Halloween printable that I’ve created  from an assortment of spider and insect images in black and white.  In the above picture, the printed image had papers layered beneath it with torn edges for a rough organic look.  To give it depth, I lightly smeared soft black charcoal and diluted black watercolor paint on the paper leaving a few paint droplets to drip down.  Little black plastic spiders were added with double-sided tape for a 3-D effect.  The wooden frame covered with spider web and one giant spider cut-out perched at the top corner tied it all together.
