Fall Ideas & Recipes

………………………… ~ …………………………

10 ideas to create or be inspired this Fall Season.

The main entrance decoration is simple with a few orange pumpkins and gray gourds. Using a large pumpkin as a flower container ties everything together.                                      (image 1

Setting the tables using pumpkins, gourds, twigs, and wood tree slices will bring out the simple and rustic feel to the tables.                                                                               (images  2   3

Grouping the same items together will give a big impact.  Using the French tian bowl for the apples is unexpected and compliments the display nicely.  If you’re not sure what to use as the center piece for the table, try a big bowl or platter full of white mini pumpkins.       (images  4  5 )

Printable leaves from EAB Designs attached to felted acorns are beautiful & simple together.   Silverbox Creative Studio printable, “I am Thankful For is wonderful as napkin rings, tags or paper chain.  (tutorial how to make felted wool acorns at Tonya Utkina’s website)                                                                                                                              (images  6  7 )

Packaging 01: Treats, Tags and Tapes

While shopping at Target for school supplies, I came upon these decorative tapes and had to bring them home.  The price (pack 4/$4.00) was quite reasonable compared to Washi tapes .  There are so many ideas and uses for them on the internet.  Here are a few websites to get ideas and inspirations:     Inspired By Charm, milk and honey, The Sweetest Occasion, Lanalou Style and Pinterest.

I recently used these tapes to package treats and decorate tags.

Here in the Northwest, the cool mornings and nights are starting to slowly settle in and I’m grabbing for my sweaters all the time.  The color orange is not something I think of decorating with or adding to  my wardrobe until the Fall season approaches.  Is orange a seasonal or a year round color for you?

Back to School … NOT on the Supply List

Back to school is not around the corner, it’s here!  The calendar is filling up with activities, meetings and what needs to be done yesterday.  When the school supplies are finished, the sense of “At least I got something done!” helps.  This supply list is not mandatory, it’s optional. I hope you will find something helpful, fun or entertaining.

DIY  Pom-Pom  Cake Topper

Pom-poms are always fun to make and add to decorations.  Follow the steps below to create mini pom-poms.

Supplies:

  1. crepe paper streamers
  2. twine
  3. white lollipop sticks {2} / kabob sticks

Cut streamer to the length of 12 inches. Fold it in half, again and again until it’s about an inch and a half long.  Along the open edges, make small clips with scissors towards the center leaving about a 1/2 inch in the middle uncut.  Take a piece of twine and tie it up in the middle.  Once secured, take your fingers and scrunch it up lightly and a pom-pom is finished.

The last few steps: Take two long pieces of twine and twist them into one and  tie the ends to the two lollipop sticks.  Tie the pom-poms to the twine attached to the sticks and clip off the extra twine from the pom-poms.  Here’s the cake topper that I created.  I hope you will have fun making them.
