A great dinner for a great cause, it’s a date! We recently attended the annual dinner & auction fundraising event at Madison Grove Farm. It’s a non-profit equestrian farm located in Fall City, Washington. Marla McNary, the founder and her husband Darin have been working to build, expand and make the farm to be a place to rejuvenate and to rehabilitate neglected/abused horses as well as struggling children and families. This is also a place our daughter, Grace has been taking riding lessons, learning to care for the animals on the farm and be a volunteer to help other kids. In just a few years, we have come to know Marla and see how she touches so many lives. The farm gives kids a place to let their guard down, feel normal and have fun.
Here are a few pictures from our dinner at the farm.
The weather was just right, warm and blue sky.
Cakes to be auctioned off for dessert (the highest bid total per table gets to choose their cake first).
Two young volunteers, Annie (L) and Emily(R) introduced the two miniature horses, Bud and Shadow to the guests.

Star, a thoroughbred is the newest addition to the Madison Grove Farm family. She was rescued from neglect and starvation in 2011 (see the before & after pictureshere). Madison Grove Farm partnered with Serenity Equine Rescue to give this beautiful horse a new life.
Thank you Marla & Darin for sharing your farm with us.
10 ideas to create or be inspired this Fall Season.
The main entrance decoration is simple with a few orange pumpkins and gray gourds. Using a large pumpkin as a flower container ties everything together. (image 1)

Setting the tables using pumpkins, gourds, twigs, and wood tree slices will bring out the simple and rustic feel to the tables. (images23 )

Grouping the same items together will give a big impact. Using the French tian bowl for the apples is unexpected and compliments the display nicely. If you’re not sure what to use as the center piece for the table, try a big bowl or platter full of white mini pumpkins. (images 45)
Summer for us is celebrating lots of birthdays. These toppers are such a nice and simple addition to cakes, cupcakes and other treats. Here are a few ideas to stimulate your creativity.
Pom-poms are always fun to make and add to decorations. Follow the steps below to create mini pom-poms.
Supplies:
crepe paper streamers
twine
white lollipop sticks {2} / kabob sticks
Cut streamer to the length of 12 inches. Fold it in half, again and again until it’s about an inch and a half long. Along the open edges, make small clips with scissors towards the center leaving about a 1/2 inch in the middle uncut. Take a piece of twine and tie it up in the middle. Once secured, take your fingers and scrunch it up lightly and a pom-pom is finished.

The last few steps: Take two long pieces of twine and twist them into one and tie the ends to the two lollipop sticks. Tie the pom-poms to the twine attached to the sticks and clip off the extra twine from the pom-poms. Here’s the cake topper that I created. I hope you will have fun making them.
