A little dusting of snow on the ground,
temperature in the 20s and 30s,
the warmth from the wood stove,
Christmas decorations in the house,
and the sounds of Christmas music…
what a nice start to the season,
or as Bing Crosby would sing it…
“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!”
Decorating for Christmas with a touch of glitter sprinkled in, like this silver glitter deer will add a fun and whimsical feel to the decor.
.
A collection of little Christmas trees of different shapes and sizes were gathered together and displayed on the mantle. A common rule when it comes to displaying similar things is not to spread them out throughout the house, but to group them together for a bigger impact visually. This could be done on a shelf, a coffee table, or down the center of the dining table.
.
I’ve been listening and enjoying Daniella’s classic Christmas playlist {above pic} often. These are some of her favorite Christmas songs from the 40’s and 50’s that she shared back in 2012, but anything classic just doesn’t go out of style quickly. The playlist is beautifully put together visually and with a simple frame, it could be a new addition to your Christmas decorations.

Looking for a gift idea?
How about a beautiful classic plaid scarf attached with a gift card to a favorite coffee shop? A wonderful “cozy” gift set. I purchased these V. Fraas Cashmink scarves recently {for myself} and discovered that my family really likes them just as much.
.
{Hannah looking quite cozy}
I used the scarves on my kids for the Christmas picture and afterward they wanted to keep them. Bill took one with him to Grace’s soccer practice in 20 degree weather and really liked the warmth of it around his neck. A practical gift that is soft and warm to wear yet quite stylish to go with most outerwear.
.
Simple and pretty packages wrapped with twine, twigs, pine branches, and decorative tape.
.
These are some of my favorite basic packaging supplies I use year round and especially during the Christmas season.
.
Three types of bags {clear, glassine, and paper bags} in different sizes, 12 each with a total of 108 bags.
.
twine and ribbon {5 yards each}
a collection of 20 decorative tapes

Love all things Christmas, especially all the glitter & sparkle.
Pretty sparkling things are like the icing on a cake – a must have at Christmas time. Thank you for sharing your thoughts Cherry. Have a wonderful Christmas!
Wonderful Wintry Wimsy!!! I am attending a Christmas Brunch today and plan on wrapping my hostess gift napkins in butcher paper, tieing with twine, and adding an aromatic Rosemary twig to the mix. Thanks for a great way to dress up my goodie!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas Brunch! What a wonderful presentation of your hostess gift and with a simple Rosemary twig giving it a personal touch from you.
Such warm and charming touches of Christmas, Kay. I’ll be thinking of you today as I put a few finishing touches of the season to our cozy little home! Thanks for the lovely inspiring ideas.
Thanks Linda. Your home is always cozy and lovely with your special touches, especially with the many beautiful pictures of the grand kids. 🙂 Merry Christmas.
I love Christmas…It brings me back to my childhood especially when I listen to Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Patti Page and others. I’m finishing up my decor today as we have a staff gathering at our place tonight. Be merry Kay and many thanks. <3
Thank you for coming by for a little chat in the midst of your busy day of preparing and decorating Aileen! I would love to hear what festive and delicious creation you served at the gathering?
The love your idea of using pine branches with tape as a accent for packages. My favorite thing about giving gifts is make the packageing look like a gift in it’s own.
Beautiful inside and out, what a lovely way to give a gift. I have a friend who does a similar thing and it was hard for me to open the package because the wrapping was beautiful and I didn’t want to tear it. I felt very special when I received a gift from her.
I love how clean and simply elegant you make things look.
Thank you Julie. It doesn’t feel like that in my house at the moment. I’m just finishing up the last bit of Christmas decorating – Big Mess. I’m hoping to do a little cleaning up today. Have a wonderful Christmas.
Love older Christmas songs, too! Plan to use the play list! Thanks!
Glad to hear Janice! I’ve played those songs so much that my husband, Bill, can’t get the song “Christmas Island” out of his head. It’s a catchy/funny tune. 🙂
Thanks for posting this, Kay! It gets me in the mood to wrap gifts. I just finished baking cookies all week and am going to be getting them out to neighbors and friends. These are some great ideas for the presentation. Thanks again and Merry Christmas!
Way to go Natasha! They are going to love your cookies. I was thinking of baking a batch of Christmas cookies yesterday….I might try that today while watching football games. Miss you guys.
Love all this beautiful wrapping, Kay! What a great idea to tape greenery with washi tape! This year, I bought some black kraft paper and am going to wrap some presents in that, tie them with red-striped baker’s twine, tape on some greenery and write names with a white chalkboard marker — hopefully it turns out ok!
LOVE it! I think they will turn out great. I hope you will do a little sampling of it and share your beautiful photos on your website. Merry Christmas to you and family, Neely.
I just love your presentation. I love to bake cookies and make candy and other confections to share with friends, neighbors, and acquaintances that made my year a better one. My favorite part is to figure out creative, beautiful packaging for these gifts.
These are such sweet and thoughtful gifts Betsy. Do you have a favorite recipe for Christmas? I just tried a new cookie recipe today, Chocolate Peppermint Cookies, and I’m loving it. Have a wonderful Christmas!
I love having all my children home for Christmas! Love the look of all the holiday wrapping.
Great pictures of your road trips and the family on your blog Cathy. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas get together with everyone! Merry Christmas.
So happy to hear you’re enjoying the playlist! I’ve had Christmas tunes on for a few weeks now already! lol. Thanks for linking back. And lovely decor! I love simple wrapping too.
Thank you again Daniella! Those songs have been itching me to sit and cozy up on the couch and watch Bing Crosby in the movies, “White Christmas” and “Holiday Inn”. 🙂
I love spending time with the family.
Hi Manda! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Being with the family is always special this time of year. Merry Christmas!
