Good Friday, It Is Finished

Good Friday, It is finished

Good Friday
The Death of Jesus

25 Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, Woman, here is your son, 27 and to the disciple, Here is your mother. From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.

28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, I am thirsty. 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, It is finished. With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

This beautiful song, “Worthy is the Lamb” sang by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir brings me right into worship time at church when I hear it.   Today is Good Friday, the day Jesus paid the ultimate price because he loves us.

Thank you for the cross Lord
Thank you for the price You paid
Bearing all my sin and shame
In love You came and gave amazing grace

Thank you for this love Lord
Thank you for the nail pierced hands
Washed me in Your cleansing flow
Now all I know Your forgiveness and embrace

Worthy is the Lamb
Seated on the throne
Crown You now with many crowns
You reign victorious

High and lifted up
Jesus, Son of God
The treasure (Darling) of Heaven crucified
Worthy is the Lamb
Worthy is the Lamb
